SMCA Charitable Trust
In addition to the propagation of Indian Culture, music, dance, drama, paintings and other arts, the trust carries out activities towards rendering medical aid and run/supports institutions for improving the health of public and/or prevention of diseases. The medical center at Indiranagar is helping with free medicines/consultations for the under privileged. It is actively engaged in providing aid through its old age home and providing education support for Destitute children. The trust is actively engages in jointly with other association for Cultural Activities, promotions of diverse festivals- a platform for communities to coalesce in harmony. SMCA members actively support the trust with regular trust activities by way of donations, spending time with old age homes, conducting programs with children.

South Madras Cultural Association, popularly known by it’s acronym SMCA was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 1975.Being the Best Bengali Association of Chennai SMCA is also underlined by the joint effort with other like minded associations for the holistic sustenance of various cultural activities while serving as a platform for communities to coalesce in harmony. SMCA, in addition to providing a cultural reminder of one’s heritage, also partakes in charity through the SMCA Charitable Trust. While promulgating cultural awareness by the joint effort with other like minded associations for the holistic sustenance of various cultural activities while serving as a platform for communities to coalesce in harmony, the SMCA Charitable Trust ensures to partake profoundly in charity. The charitable trust was founded in the 1980’s to continually ensure the complementing of culture with charity. Since time immemorial, the Trust has provided solid support for old age homes and destitute children in the form of free medical centers at a premise of convenience, free blood donation camps and disaster relief, scholarship for children at risk through Ramakrishna Mission, providing assistance at the Cancer research institute and Bharat Sevashram Sangha. Our Medical Center, situated at the SMCA club premise in Indira Nagar, assures free of cost all round assistance to the requirements of people at risk Donations made in the name of SMCA Charitable Trust, qualify for exemption under section 80G of Income Tax Act.
